Introduction

This one-day meeting will bring together scientists and technologists with expertise in the production and characterisation of functional thin film materials and integrated devices for a broad spectrum of scientific and industrial applications, with the aim of sharing knowledge, ideas and experiences. The conference comprises a programme of invited speakers, contributed papers, a poster session and will allow time for delegates to network with others and to visit the exhibition.

Comments following a previous Vacuum Symposium
Niall Macgearailt from Intel, Ireland, commented on‘Vacuum and Plasmas for Industry’ meeting: “The combination of the Vacuum Expo and technical sessions provide an excellent networking opportunity. The large number of UK and European based suppliers offering innovative products and solutions is extremely encouraging.”
Following a previous Functional Thin Films Meeting
The Vacuum Symposium has developed into a ‘must-attend’ event. Dr Glen West of the Surface Engineering Group at Manchester Metropolitan University said of the meeting “The thin films programme was perhaps the most interesting that I have seen at a technical session in recent years. The speakers were of a high quality and provided a well-balanced mix of technical expertise and industrial experience.”
