9th RGA Users Meeting
10 February 2010 | Daresbury Science and Innovation Centre
This one day meeting of the Residual Gas Analyser (RGA) Users Group was held on Wednesday 10 February 2010 at Daresbury Science and Innovation Centre.
The meeting was organised by the RGA User Group Committee supported by the IOP Vacuum Group, British Vacuum Council, STFC Daresbury Laboratory (ASTeC Vacuum Science Group) and SS Scientific Limited. The meeting will be remembered as the launch day of the 1st Vacuum Symposium UK – an event surely destined to become an annual event.
The mini-exhibition grew in size significantly featuring 26 vacuum companies with products on display.
The aim of these meetings is to bring together industrial, academic and research based RGA users with suppliers of RGA’s in a workshop style meeting. There was one invited talk from Dr. Janez Šetina, Institute of Metals and Technology, Ljubljana, Slovenia, and 8 contributed talks covering a wide range of topics related to RGA’s.
Throughout the day there was ample opportunity to question the speakers, both formally and informally. As well as stimulating inter-group discussion, the meeting was considered by many as a unique networking opportunity and a highly valued forum for interaction between engineers and scientists with practical vacuum experience.
At the conclusion of the meeting there were Tours of ALICE and the Vacuum Science Laboratory. For those staying on for the VS-1 meeting the following day there was a wine and canapé Exhibitors Reception that ran through to 1900.
Thanks to the sponsors, the meeting was free of charge for the > 100 delegates who helped to make this meeting another success.
